 Welcome to Lake Powell, the 2nd largest man-made lake in the United States. Lake Powell is 186 miles long, has 96 major canyons and 1960 miles of shoreline (more than the west coast of the United States). It was formed with the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam which started in 1957 and was completed in 1963. Lake Powell reached “Full Pool” in 1980.
Since 1972, the National Park Service has endeavored to preserve Glen Canyon National Recreation Area for generations to come. The National Park Service and ARAMARK work to provide everything you need for a memorable visit to the ultimate destination for houseboating vacations.
